Is Yerba Mate Good For You?

People are always asking me if Yerba Mate is good for you. My answer is emphatically YES! I’m a health coach and I recommend it to my clients and see the results repeatedly.


I’ve been drinking Yerba Mate every single day for 15 years. I literally never get sick. I don’t catch colds, I don’t need pharmaceuticals, I haven’t had any invasive surgeries, I have lots of energy, and I still wear a size 4 jeans!

Yerba mate has a plethora of benefits that go beyond any other tea or herb that I know of. It’s transformative for most people and has a remarkably regenerating effect on both the mind and body.


I used to laugh when people would try it for the first time because they would usually make a funny face in reaction to the bitterness. In our café, we used to give out samples and more times than I can count people would come back the next day and ask if they could try that stuff again.

Our bodies intuitively know when things are good for us. Bitterness is something we’re missing in the foods we eat today, but they are powerful liver cleansers. This is one of my favorite things about a nice strong cup of mate and you can always add a little honey, agave, or stevia to sweeten it up a bit.


Yerba Mate has been clinically proven to attack colon cancer cells through a process called apoptosis. Basically, the colon cancer cell commits suicide and kills itself. This is preventative medicine at its best!

It has also proven to decrease Body Mass Index (BMI) so if you’re trying to slim your mid-section, regular consumption of Yerba Mate will be your best kept secret, like it is mine.


Another reason Yerba Mate is good for you, resides in the fact that it provides an infusion of alkalizing nutrients that both heal and revitalize the body leaving it with a clean, fresh, and clear feeling. The Argentineans know this which is why they drink it so avariciously. It’s their national beverage for good reason.

One study said that it would be difficult to find a plant anywhere in the world to compare in nutritional value to Mate, but like everything else, sometimes beneficial things can be subject to bad publicity and bad information.


In my opinion, Yerba Mate is one of the best things you can do for your health and wellness. So, my answer to the question, 'is Yerba Mate good for you'? Yes, I can say from my personal experience and from the number of studies producing positive results, that it is indeed good for you.
